Yoki’s Farm – What you need to know and why you should pay a visit

Farm tour is one of the activities our family loves to do. Last year alone, we have visited around 5 farms. And this time, we visited a surprisingly unique farm in Mendez, where almost all of what we love to do are rolled into one farm experience!

Tagaytay tour itineraries seem to be the same over and over and this wonderful farm may be a sweet addition to your travel list.

So what did we discovered at Yoki’s Farm? And why you should include this on your next Metro-Tagaytay itinerary, find out here:

FARM MAP Conan is excited to explore!

Yoki’s farm is a 10-hectare farm brainchild and owned by Mr. Wilson Ong nicknamed Yoki founded in 1996. Right now, only 4-hectare of it are used for tours, the other parts of the farm are still off limits to guests. It is the biggest hydroponic farm in CALABARZON and managed by his son. Plans for development like having additional playgrounds for children and a resort are on its way and which we can expect in the future.

Kids enjoyed their learning of hydroponics farming. Yoki’s farm is the biggest hydroponics farm in CALABARZON

Touring Yoki’s Farm

1. Hydroponics Farm – Hydroponics farming fans will surely enjoy their visit at the largest hydroponics farm at Calabarzon which is the Yoki’s Farm. Hydroponics is a subset of hydroculture, which is a method of growing plants without soil by instead using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. In Yoki’s they grow their plants in coconut husks. The tour has a 15-minute orientation to learn about hydroponics farming.

8. Museum – Here you will see the vast collection of Mr. Yoki’s Buddha sculptures and other interesting finds. He loves collecting antique made of bronze and brass sculptures. Among his collections are pieces of sculptures depicting some god/goddesses from other lands. There are I think a thousand collections of ceramics, porcelains, Buddha sculptures, Egyptian statues, bronze wares, jade model ships, vases of all types, and other interesting items including SULTAN (A head sculpture which seemed to open its eyes at night). There are also other items like old telephones, typewriters, and creepy things too! He also have a collection of wine and liquor bottles. Good thing Marie Kondo is not trending at the time, or else we might not be enjoying these collections. It is as if Mr. Yoki wouldn’t want to throw anything and that made it into this huge court of antique collections. I thought I might find the dragon statue here, lol! 10. Farm to table restaurant – I love the concept from the restaurant interior and of course the farm to table concept of food preparation. Freshly picked vegetables will be served. Staffs are all friendly and will ask you from time to time if you need anything else. We also loved the big servings of their dishes.

Yoki’s Signature SaladFreshly picked vegetable salad with mulberry and edible fruit . This salad would be much better if the dressing weren’t mixed at the time of serving. It cooked the lettuce which lessened its crispiness. Also, it is great if there’s a choice for other type of dressing like the famous TID or Ceasar’s. I love the generous addition of mulberry fruits.

Tenderloin Beef Tapa – homemade beef tenderloin tapa, fried egg, garlic rice, salted egg and tomato relish. This dish is a YES for me! I love the softness of the beef and the sauce it’s a twist to the usual beef tapa.

The Transport Queen Experience

We enjoyed our tour with the assistance of tour guide Ms. Katherine, who cheerfully answered all our queries during our farm tour.

tour guide
Our Tour guide for the day

Comparing to those we have seen so far, this one is the biggest plus there are variety of things you can see aside from vegetation alone. The collection of animals are also interesting and we noticed that there are no unusual smell which is common in some farms. Their farms are well kept, clean and not smelly. The animals seem to be taken care of properly. The ponies though as mini as they seem still should be tied to a tree when guests are roaming, during our visit one of the male ponies went on to one of the female (of course, we got scared). But the staffs handled it all fairly well. It was a pleasant experience for adults and kids alike to get a close encounter with the animals, feel their environment and get to know more about them. My little kid loved the farm, he also loved running on the landscapes and jumping here and there. He really loved the visit that we find it difficult to get him to say goodbye to the place, ha! ha!

I enjoyed looking at the vegetation, in some farms I’ve visited there are only the same types of vegetables like lettuce, basil and some herbs. Here at Yoki’s there’s a wide variety of vegetables they grow which includes ampalaya which I seldom see at other farms we visited.  I saw some tomatoes and cucumbers falling off the ground and unharvested, I wish they do something about it to prevent the foods from being wasted.I love art and sculptures, and their museum out beaten all the museum we visited comparing to Bencab and Orlina Museum, they have an awesome collection of brass sculptures from different cultures.  We suggested though to put labels in the collection so we can know where those came from, from what era, if it’s antique or just replica.

child at play

Plus, you can feel the personal touch of the owner, the collections speaks of the owners rich love for sculpture and history, the vast love for his collections which was kept and continued on by his son. It was really an awesome experience!

Yoki’s farm is highly recommended for kids and kids at heart. For educational tours, and those who want to learn hydroponics farming. You can be a Farmer for the day for just P1,500! I would definitely wanted to be back at Yoki’s Farm!

Learn to Trade – Hassle free! Here’s how

TRADING? A lot of people wanted to explore the world of trading but has little knowledge of how and when to do it. I myself, become fascinated with learning how to trade that I even attended the seminar “Learn to Trade”. But unfortunately, I still DIDN’T LEARN how to trade, I didn’t make it to the big buckets of money that the traders are referring to — why? because I don’t have the fund to enroll in the actual program of learning how to trade 🙂 I hate numbers! Even more I hate graphs, in short I hate analyzing data with numbers. So I quit on learning how to trade.

Funny as it seems, after about 2 years a friend introduced us to bitcoin automatic trading. As complicated as it seems, learning bitcoin currency is not in our minds to explore, more so is learning how to trade using bitcoin. Nevertheless, we tried and invested. But trading though automatic as it seems also have down falls. As the traders say “trade only what you can afford to lose.” So before you start reading on learning how to “automatically trade” let me warn you “invest what you only can afford to lose.” Trading can earn you additional PASSIVE INCOME. It can also make you lose so trade with caution.

We were introduced to trading via Coach Jonathan Tacad of Bittrain Philippines. I just recently met him in person after months of chatting in messenger.  He is such a supportive Coach and now earns the title Master Distributor of the Philippines earning millions thru passive income and by sharing Bittrain.

Bittrain Trading uses Automatic Trading System.

Automated trading systems — also referred to as mechanical trading systems, algorithmic trading, automated trading or system trading — allow traders to establish specific rules for both trade entries and exits that, once programmed, can be automatically executed via a computer. In fact, roughly 75% of shares traded on U.S. stock exchanges come from automatic trading systems. – Please read complete article on Automated trading.

Automated trading takes away the emotions and time one can invest in trading. It uses rules and program dictated into a software that analyzes the flow of trading.

Bittrain is a perfect example of an automated trading system. It promises 8% weekly profit for passive income traders. Bittrain envisions a business opportunity that can generate immediate and long-term income for its members. Through the Bittrain platform, the members will have access to the renowned trading platforms, an expert team and artificial intelligence software, ensuring weekly profitability. iCafe the Cafe that cares!

Let’s have coffee! – One of the famous lines when it comes to connecting with new business partners to sit down and talk for a cup of coffee. Now there’s a Cafe where connections and talks goes beyond “business” and aims to create more meaningful connections beyond your usual coffee break.

iCafe is a unique cafe located at the Church of God building. The 1st time I heard about the place was when my daughter had an assignment and have to feature a church. So we went to the Church of God and was amazed by the highly visual, high-tech building and instagrammable design of the whole building itself. That was last October, 2018. Coming to iCafe that time was not intentional. Since after going to Church, there were youth members then who are offering “free coffee.” Since I wanted to try and taste their coffee I agreed to sit down with the girl member of the youth fellowship. She were giving away free chocolates and coffee in exchange of a short talk, a short time for her to discuss the Programs of the Church. So we sit in and tried. The experience was great – coffee and fellowship blend perfectly well since the mood is relaxing, the mind is open to accept ideas and to connect.

Me and  the kids took a quick shot after our iCafe experience

Now, just last month, March, 2019, I’ve been lucky to visit iCafe again and get to know the more about the Cafe this time with Ms. Mei Cahigas, COO of iCafe, Church of God and the Southbloggers team.

CHURCH OF GOD

What is iCafe?

i – I

C – Connect

A – Assist

F – Fellowship

E – Enjoy

This is what iCafe stands for, and relating my 1st experience was good to understand the connect, assist and fellowship aspects of the cafe. I really enjoyed the connection built from that and having someone to sit down and talk about God and His Plans is something unique over a cup of coffee.

The food and drinks in iCafe

frappe

They boast of various flavors of frappes to choose from. I tried 8 of their frappes and I can tell they are all deserving of the praise. You can ask the level of sugar to put in and I recommend you just try the 50% sugar level. The frappes offers distinct taste and you can easily distinguish the flavors one from another. Unlike the other Cafes I went to, which seems to have same the same flavors (but different names). iCafe got me for their authentic mix of blends for their cafe, adding the instagrammable presentation makes it a perfect Cafe experience.

My best picks are:

Mango Tango are their version of Mango float with graham. One big order is enough for 2 persons. Their version is really yummy! I suggest you request just 50% sugar to go with you mango tango shake.

Cherry choco berry

Butterscotch frappe has a taste that I cannot fully describe, it’s taste like cake only mixed into a frappe. It has a unique blend which I haven’t tasted yet on other cafe.

If you want a real matcha experience, you can try theirs. It is really tasty, that it tastes like “wheatgrass”. For tea and natural herb lovers, they may actually like their version of matcha tea.

iCafe Cakes and pastries

Again, this is a BIG PLUS for me. Imagine going to a Cafe where you can actually Choose. You can choose which cake to eat because you have a CHOICE not because you are left with just 2 to 3 choices. They have 6 cakes and pastries like banana muffin, cookies, ensaymada and brownies.

cakes and pastries

My best picks are

Ube Macapuno – it has real ube and macapuno filling at the inside of the cake, leaving you craving for more.

ube cake

Banana Muffin – Soft, yummy muffins topped with chocolates. Best served hot. There’s a yummy goodness in every bite.

muffin

Blueberry Cheesecake – Comparing to other cafe’s offering blueberry cheesecakes which are too sweet. I love how iCafe baked it right.

Other food choices

flavored nuts

For strong coffee lovers, you can try Shakarato with whipped cream. It is black coffee with 3 shots of espresso.

God Bless Sausage

Get full with this big sausage, prepared just right. I suggest they add pickles, cheese, chilli beans, or jalapeno to make it more delicious and to add variety to the meal.Wish they will also have pasta and salads.

iCafe space is good enough for 70pax, perfect for seminars or group meetings. Anyone can visit iCafe, it is open to all members or non-members of the Church. The profit derived from iCafe goes to the continous construction of the Church and its other needs.

iCafe is also nearby to the Church’s Persion Gym so after finishing your routine work out, chill with frappe and pastries with friends or go solo. You can never feel alone.

THE TRANSPORT QUEEN

Entering the Logistics Business: What you need to know!

Ever wonder how your favorite ice cream, cookies, chicken, veggies, documents, things or almost everything gets delivered from factory to factory, warehouses to stores or even to your doorsteps? It’s called Logistics.

Logistics is the management of the flow of things between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet requirements of customers or corporations. meaning by Wikipedia

Logistics is used more broadly to refer to the process of coordinating and moving resources – people, materials, inventory, and equipment – from one location to storage at the desired destination. – Business Encyclopedia

It is simply the business of moving things. In moving things we need transport – ship, air cargo, trucks, vans, and riders.

Since October of 2017, I as part of ROAD RENT A CAR TSC, we experienced the world of Logistic transport via partnering with Lazada Courier delivery. It is a warehouse (hub) to customers (last mile) and merchants to warehouse (first mile) delivery transactions. It was a challenge to handle almost 500 riders/drivers during the December Sale. And it is an experience noteworthy of learning.

23561789_10214395260297271_5729045795216291493_n

Earlier this 2018, we partnered again to another Logistics company type which caters Nestle, Selecta, Rebisco and other big accounts. This Logistics deployment is something really new to us. Having been in the field of “people transport” via VIP car rental services to a world of deliveries was a total twist. Though, I have been in the Logistics industry (Shipping Transport). for almost 14 years doing Export and Import Documentation and handling teams, this Land Logistics transport is a challenge.

Here are some of the challenges we faced;

1. Challenges to look for truckers (almost all truckers are already engaged in trucking contract);

2. Challenges to convince van owners with lower year models to convert from people transport to deliveries *van rentals sometimes pay higher rentals but the frequency is only seasonal*
3. Challenges of maintaining driver – helper to continue service despite of the sometimes difficult situations during delivery.
To address these challenges, some of our members took the time to check the potential of the Logistics business and bought utility vehicles fitted for deliveries, some are already in the process of gaining approval from their banks waiting for release. To address challenge #3, we insist that drivers and helpers be invited for the membership and training seminars for them to feel being part of the company, in this case the Cooperative.
