iCafe the Cafe that cares!

Let’s have coffee! – One of the famous lines when it comes to connecting with new business partners to sit down and talk for a cup of coffee. Now there’s a Cafe where connections and talks goes beyond “business” and aims to create more meaningful connections beyond your usual coffee break.

iCafe is a unique cafe located at the Church of God building. The 1st time I heard about the place was when my daughter had an assignment and have to feature a church. So we went to the Church of God and was amazed by the highly visual, high-tech building and instagrammable design of the whole building itself. That was last October, 2018. Coming to iCafe that time was not intentional. Since after going to Church, there were youth members then who are offering “free coffee.” Since I wanted to try and taste their coffee I agreed to sit down with the girl member of the youth fellowship. She were giving away free chocolates and coffee in exchange of a short talk, a short time for her to discuss the Programs of the Church. So we sit in and tried. The experience was great – coffee and fellowship blend perfectly well since the mood is relaxing, the mind is open to accept ideas and to connect.

Me and  the kids took a quick shot after our iCafe experience

Now, just last month, March, 2019, I’ve been lucky to visit iCafe again and get to know the more about the Cafe this time with Ms. Mei Cahigas, COO of iCafe, Church of God and the Southbloggers team.

Ms. Mei Cahigas of iCafe

What is iCafe?

i – I

C – Connect

A – Assist

F – Fellowship

E – Enjoy

This is what iCafe stands for, and relating my 1st experience was good to understand the connect, assist and fellowship aspects of the cafe. I really enjoyed the connection built from that and having someone to sit down and talk about God and His Plans is something unique over a cup of coffee.

The food and drinks in iCafe

They boast of various flavors of frappes to choose from. I tried 8 of their frappes and I can tell they are all deserving of the praise. You can ask the level of sugar to put in and I recommend you just try the 50% sugar level. The frappes offers distinct taste and you can easily distinguish the flavors one from another. Unlike the other Cafes I went to, which seems to have same the same flavors (but different names). iCafe got me for their authentic mix of blends for their cafe, adding the instagrammable presentation makes it a perfect Cafe experience.

My best picks are:

Mango Tango are their version of Mango float with graham. One big order is enough for 2 persons. Their version is really yummy! I suggest you request just 50% sugar to go with you mango tango shake.

Cherry choco berry

Butterscotch frappe has a taste that I cannot fully describe, it’s taste like cake only mixed into a frappe. It has a unique blend which I haven’t tasted yet on other cafe.

If you want a real matcha experience, you can try theirs. It is really tasty, that it tastes like “wheatgrass”. For tea and natural herb lovers, they may actually like their version of matcha tea.

iCafe Cakes and pastries

Again, this is a BIG PLUS for me. Imagine going to a Cafe where you can actually Choose. You can choose which cake to eat because you have a CHOICE not because you are left with just 2 to 3 choices. They have 6 cakes and pastries like banana muffin, cookies, ensaymada and brownies.

cakes and pastries

My best picks are

Ube Macapuno – it has real ube and macapuno filling at the inside of the cake, leaving you craving for more.

ube cake

Banana Muffin – Soft, yummy muffins topped with chocolates. Best served hot. There’s a yummy goodness in every bite.

Blueberry Cheesecake – Comparing to other cafe’s offering blueberry cheesecakes which are too sweet. I love how iCafe baked it right.

blueberry cheesecake

Other food choices

flavored nuts

For strong coffee lovers, you can try Shakarato with whipped cream. It is black coffee with 3 shots of espresso.

God Bless Sausage

Get full with this big sausage, prepared just right. I suggest they add pickles, cheese, chilli beans, or jalapeno to make it more delicious and to add variety to the meal.Wish they will also have pasta and salads.

iCafe space is good enough for 70pax, perfect for seminars or group meetings. Anyone can visit iCafe, it is open to all members or non-members of the Church. The profit derived from iCafe goes to the continous construction of the Church and its other needs.

iCafe is also nearby to the Church’s Persion Gym so after finishing your routine work out, chill with frappe and pastries with friends or go solo. You can never feel alone.

Museo Orlina – A Virtual Tour

It was a fine Saturday, and our family decided for a quick get-away to Tagaytay. I was thinking of places we haven’t visited yet, and finally decided to check out Museo Orlina – which I’ve been seeing mostly in google searches for places to visit in Tagaytay. Finally, we arrived.

It was a 30-minute drive from Gen. Trias going to Museo Orlina in Tagaytay. You could easily find the place using Google Map or Waze. The road leading to Museo Orlina is steep, so better be careful esp. those with vehicles.

Museo Orlina is a former residence of the internationally acclaimed Artist/Sculptor Ramon Orlina. It was one his dreams which finally came true to have a museum of his artworks. The building design itself is an artwork and once you get inside numerous glass sculptures will greet you.

My husband asked me “I think your getting fond of art these days?” After featuring the carvings of Paete with ice, wood, and fruit as mediums now I get to see Glass Sculptures. Once inside, we instantly recalled the Bencab Museum of Baguio City. One can compare the almost identical ambiance of the building and the garden. But the main difference is the medium or instrument used to display the art.

Museo Orlina’s glass display is very UNIQUE & AMAZING. I instantly thought of having one these pieces as a piece of furniture, a design maybe on the living room or on the bedroom. One can relate the artwork and can actually use for everyday living since the artwork designs are minimalist and modern.

Let me take you to a virtual tour!

Recommendation: Over all visiting the Museo Orlina can be a real family bonding experience. The only thing that we were not able to do is the interactive activity as shown in the brochure. Some parts of the art galleries are closed for renovation or cleaning I guess. The Cafe is also closed at this time. But despite of this, one can enjoy the art of Museo Orlina. I can say it is a “must place” to visit in Tagaytay specially when you have younger ones with you.

Tour the World in 100 minutes @Torres Farm and Resort🏖

I finally found a Day Tour escapade ideal for the family which entails fun and learning for the kids. We traveled around the world — with no passport required, low budget requirement and you can tour the iconic places in the world in just 100 minutes! Impossible? Read more to know HOW⤵️

I learned about this resort on Facebook, it suddenly appeared on my newsfeed and I instantly fell in love. We decided to celebrate my son Conan’s 3rd birthday at a low budget resort but at a place that will leave a remarkable memory, we traveled to Torres Farm and Resort, which to our surprise was only less than an hour drive from us (General Trias), and only 1-hour and 30 minutes for those of our friends who came from Manila via public transport. The accessibility of the place made us more excited to explore the place.

Torres Farm and Resort was originally a 14-hectare mango farm. Wherein the very accommodating owners,  Mr. Frederick and Anna Baylosis resides. The idea started when the couple decided to have their own private pool, then little by little they enhanced the idea of creating replicas of the iconic places of the world. Then just 2 years ago opened the place to the public. I was amazed by the humbleness of its owners and their hearts generosity of sharing their humble place to the people of Cavite & all others who want “to view the world” at a low-entrance fee rates.

Tour around the world

Easily recognized around the world is the famous Santorini of Greece. The rendition of Torres Farm, its white and blue colored structure gave dignity to the real Santorini. This has been an inspiration of the Function Room found at the Torres Farm and Resort – Greece Theme. We spotted a wedding celebration during our stay at the resort and it can cater quite a number of guests as well as its car parking space can accommodate at least 20 to 50 cars.

The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped masonry structures located in Egypt. Built during the time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the world. http://www.history.com. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the most likely to be replicated because it is the oldest and the largest of the three pyramids found in El Giza, Egypt. Now, you don’t have to go to Egypt to experience the aura of the Pyramid era, just drop by here at the Egypt Theme.

Remember to make fun photos with your family when you visit the Pyramid of Egypt.

The Merlion is the mythical symbol of Singapore and it has the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Tourists flock at the Merlion and is one of the most popular attraction in Singapore. The Torres Farm captured the heart of Singapore by placing a Merlion in one of its function areas. Re-live Singapore experience by taking Instagram photos, use your imagination while you slay that photo shoot.

“The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical structure which can found in Liberty Island, New York City, US. It is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.” -www.nps.gov

You don’t have to go to New York to see Liberty, she’s standing here at Torres Farm.

Use a little imagination

Kids and kids at heart favorite Disneyland Castle is here! Standing beside the pool and surrounded by man made lake is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. The Disneyland theme though is undergoing some minor renovations, I haven’t tried entering the castle.

The symbol of Love, Eiffel Tower is here. Exchange your I do’s or just rekindle your love under this magnificent iron wrought lattice tower.
